Pakistan, China discuss Iran-US mediation and Strait of Hormuz stability
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has spoken with China’s Wang Yi about Islamabad’s efforts to bridge tensions between Iran and the US.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Dar outlined “ongoing efforts to facilitate engagement between Iran and the United States” during the call.
“Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated appreciation and support for Pakistan’s constructive mediation role,” the ministry said in its readout.
“Both sides underscored the importance of continuing a durable ceasefire and ensuring normal passage through the Strait of Hormuz,” it added.
The discussion comes as diplomatic activity intensifies around the conflict. US President Donald Trump is expected to travel to China later this week for an official visit, in a move likely to shape ongoing negotiations.
