Qatar is intensifying mediation efforts between Iran and the United States in an attempt to improve Tehran’s latest proposal and keep negotiations alive, according to reports published on Monday. An Israeli source cited by Yedioth Ahronoth said Qatari mediators have become deeply involved following Iran’s submission of a 14-point proposal that Washington reportedly dismissed as inadequate. According to the report, Israel is concerned that US discussions with Iran are focused primarily on the nuclear file and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, without addressing Iran’s ballistic missile programme or allied regional groups.
