Iran says US behaviour undermining diplomatic efforts

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said the “contradictory and excessive behaviours” of the United States remain a serious obstacle to diplomacy, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.

Speaking during a meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Araghchi said Iran’s deep mistrust of the US stemmed from what he described as repeated breaches of promises by Washington.

Araghchi said Tehran had entered diplomatic talks aimed at ending the conflict out of a “responsible outlook”.

Naqvi, meanwhile, expressed hope that Pakistan could help contribute to efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
