A majority of Americans oppose providing economic and military aid to Israel, according to a poll conducted by The New York Times and Siena Research Institute. The survey found that 57 per cent of Americans oppose giving assistance to Israel, while 37 per cent support it. It also showed that 37 per cent of respondents sympathise more with Palestinians, compared with 35 per cent who said they sympathise more with Israelis. The poll was conducted between 11th and 15th May and included more than 1,500 American adults. The margin of error was about 2.8 percentage points.
