IAEA chief to brief UN Security Council on UAE nuclear plant attack

International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi will brief the United Nations Security Council on the recent attack targeting a nuclear plant in the UAE, according to a spokesperson for UN secretary general Antonio Guterres.

The drone attack on Sunday caused a fire in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah nuclear plant in the Al Dhafra region.

Earlier on Friday, the Emirati defence ministry said the drones used in the attack had originated from Iraqi territory.
