Israeli warplanes hit eastern Lebanon near Syrian border

Israeli warplanes carried out five late-night air strikes in eastern Lebanon near the Syrian border, according to the country’s National News Agency.

The attacks came after Israel ordered the evacuation of two areas in southern Lebanon, escalating pressure across the country.

The state news agency said the strikes hit shortly before midnight, targeting the Nabi Sreij area on the outskirts of Brital.

The eastern town had not been struck since the 17 April ceasefire, making the latest raids a fresh breach in Israel’s continuing attacks on Lebanon.
