Iran’s Tasnim news agency on Tuesday reported that Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf discussed in Qatar how Iran could obtain $12 billion as a first step in an agreement between Tehran and the United States. The Associated Press also reported that the United States and Iran reached an understanding on Tuesday over the issue of Iran’s frozen funds. The agency said Qatari mediation had succeeded in securing a common understanding between the two sides on the matter.
