Iranian president says economic war now ‘main battleground’

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday that “the main battleground today is the economic war” in the country’s ongoing confrontation with the US and Israel.

“After failing to achieve its objectives on the military front, the enemy has focused on damaging the country’s economic resilience and disrupting the livelihoods of the people,” Pezeshkian said in comments carried by Tasnim news agency.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, the president called for greater private sector involvement to protect the country’s “economic foundation” and increase its “national power in the face of external pressures and threats”.
