White House confirms draft Iran agreement still unsigned

The White House has confirmed reports that a memorandum of understanding exists regarding a possible deal with Iran, though President Donald Trump has not yet signed it.

According to the reported framework, the agreement would include a 60-day ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an Iranian commitment to clear all mines within 30 days.

Iran would also pledge not to build a nuclear weapon, while the US would discuss sanctions relief and the unfreezing of Iranian assets.

The proposal reportedly includes a parallel lifting of the US naval blockade, followed by negotiations over Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium.

Similar claims of progress emerged only days ago, before the White House and Trump later said no agreement had been finalised.

During a cabinet meeting yesterday, Trump said he was β€œin no rush”.
