Israel closes schools near Lebanon border as security measures tighten
Israel has tightened civil defence restrictions in communities near the Lebanese border, ordering schools to close and limiting public gatherings amid growing security concerns.
According to updated guidance from Israel's Home Front Command, educational activities have been suspended in several northern communities, including Kiryat Shmona, Meron, Bar Yohai, Or HaGanuz, Safsufa, Yesud HaMa'ala, Kisra-Sumei, Beit Jann and Sde Eliezer.
In the Upper Galilee, northern Golan, Katzrin and Kidmat Tzvi, schools may only operate in locations with quick access to protected shelters.
The new measures also restrict outdoor gatherings to 50 people and indoor events to 200 people, while beaches in the affected areas have been closed.
The restrictions will remain in force until Monday at 18:00 GMT.
