NYT: Trump sent revised proposal with toughened terms back to Iran

Earlier, Axios reported that US President Donald Trump requested “several amendments” to the preliminary agreement negotiated by his envoys with Iran.

Now, The New York Times is also reporting that Trump has “toughened the terms” of the proposed framework and sent the revised text back to Tehran for consideration.

The reported revisions come after Iranian officials repeatedly accused Washington of altering previously discussed understandings and retreating from positions conveyed through mediators.

Iranian officials and media outlets have recently argued that the US has continued to change key terms related to sanctions relief, frozen Iranian assets and regional ceasefire arrangements, saying such shifts have complicated efforts to finalise an agreement.

Tehran has maintained that negotiations remain ongoing and that several major disputes are still unresolved.
