Axios: Trump seeks changes to proposed Iran agreement

US President Donald Trump has asked for “several amendments” to a proposed agreement negotiated by his envoys with Iran, according to Axios, citing US officials. The requested changes reportedly emerged during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday.

According to Axios, Trump wants revisions to clauses related to Iran’s nuclear programme and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

“It’s more specifics about how the US gets the material [Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile] and the timing,” a senior administration official told the outlet.

A second source said Trump also wants changes to the language surrounding Hormuz.

Officials told Axios that Iran’s response could take about three days, with one senior official saying, “At the turn of the week, we hope to have something.”
