Israeli forces kill Palestinian worker near Jerusalem aparthaid wall

Israeli forces have shot dead a Palestinian man near the apartheid wall north of occupied Jerusalem, according to Palestinian authorities.

The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the victim as 26-year-old Imad Haroun Ashtiyeh from the village of Salem, east of Nablus. The ministry said he was killed by Israeli gunfire near the town of al-Ram.

A relative told AFP that Ashtiyeh, a construction worker, had been attempting to cross the barrier with several other men in order to reach work in Tel Aviv.

“But then he was shot while attempting to climb over,” Omer, a relative who gave only his first name, told the news agency.

An AFP journalist at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah saw Ashtiyeh's body wrapped in a Palestinian flag as grieving relatives gathered around him.
