Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said he could guarantee that Hezbollah would fully comply with a ceasefire if Israel halted its land, sea and air military operations and stopped demolishing homes and bulldozing land in Lebanon. In an interview with the Beirut-based newspaper Al-Modon, Berri said he would take responsibility for ensuring Hezbollah’s full commitment to a ceasefire, but stressed that this was conditional on Israel ending the war and all military operations it is carrying out in Lebanon.  Berri expressed doubt that Israel would honour any commitments or agreements, saying the main challenge was ensuring that it implemented any understanding reached between the parties.
