Iran’s Araghchi denies contact with US envoy Witkoff

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says his last communication with US envoy Steve Witkoff took place before Washington launched its latest military strike on Iran.

Writing on X on Monday, Araghchi said there had been no communication after the attack, rejecting suggestions that diplomatic contact had continued.

“My last contact with Mr Witkoff was prior to his employer's decision to kill diplomacy with another illegal military attack on Iran,” he wrote.

Araghchi also dismissed claims circulating in media reports that talks were ongoing. “Any claim to the contrary appears geared solely to mislead oil traders and the public,” he said.
