The Gaza Health Ministry said May recorded the highest death toll since the start of the year, amid continued attacks on civilians and residential areas across the enclave. According to the ministry’s statistical report, 119 Palestinians were killed across the Gaza Strip during May alone, making it the deadliest month of 2026 so far. The ministry said the most vulnerable groups of civilians were among those affected, with children, women and elderly people accounting for 30 per cent of the total number of fatalities during the month.
