Trump says Strait of Hormuz will reopen once deal is signed

US President Donald Trump says the Strait of Hormuz will reopen “immediately upon signing” an agreement with Tehran.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said he was seeking to separate efforts to reopen the strategic waterway from the ongoing fighting in Lebanon.

As Israeli forces continue heavy attacks across southern Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted military operations there will proceed as planned.

“It will open up quickly,” Trump said of the strait.
