Lebanon president says ceasefire may come into effect within a day of parties' approval

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun told local media on Thursday that a US-brokered ceasefire agreed the previous evening between Lebanon and Israel could come into force within 24 hours of all concerned parties approving it.

Hezbollah has yet to comment on the ceasefire announced after talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington.

Despite the announcement, Israel continued to strike several areas in Nabatieh, south Lebanon overnight.
