IRGC says it struck ‘enemy bases’ after US attacks on Qeshm Island
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched attacks on what it described as “enemy bases in the region”, using “aerospace missiles” in response to US military actions against Iranian targets, according to a statement carried by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency.
The IRGC said the operation was retaliation for US attacks on the southern city of Sirik and Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz.
The claim comes amid escalating exchanges between Washington and Tehran.
US officials have previously acknowledged strikes on targets on Qeshm Island, describing them as self-defence actions, while Iran has repeatedly announced retaliatory missile and drone operations against US-linked military assets and regional targets.
