UN peacekeepers say strike violated Lebanon’s sovereignty
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) expressed “heartfelt condolences” to the families of the Lebanese army personnel killed in an Israeli attack in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon.
In a post on X, Unifil said such attacks on Lebanese territory constitute “gross violations” of Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
The resolution ended the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah and later served as the basis for the ceasefire agreement reached between the two sides in November 2024.
UNIFIL expresses its heartfelt condolences to the @LebarmyOfficial and to the families of the personnel who reportedly lost their lives in an airstrike in Nabatiye this morning.
