Gaza doctor appears on video for the first time since last February

Prominent Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, captured by Israeli forces in Gaza in late 2024 and held in detention ever since, appeared via video link at Israel's Supreme Court on Wednesday.

"Dr. Hussam is still being held in solitary confinement in Nafha prison. He appeared via screen handcuffed and shackled. The court refused to remove the shackles," lawyer Nasser Odeh told reporters outside the court.

This marks the first time he was seen since a video was posted on Israeli media in late February last year.
