US uses bunker-buster bombs on Iranian missile sites along Hormuz
The US military said it used 5,000-pound guided bunker-buster bombs to strike Iranian missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz, targeting positions that posed a threat to international shipping, CNN reported.
“US forces successfully employed multiple 5,000-pound deep penetrator munitions on hardened Iranian missile sites,” US Central Command said, adding the sites housed anti-ship cruise missiles.
A US official told CNN that the weapons used were GBU-72 Advanced 5K Penetrator bombs designed to destroy deeply buried targets.
