Pezeshkian says Iran will not accept humiliation as talks approach
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the country would not accept humiliation and had learned from the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, to preserve its dignity in the face of external pressure.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian said Iran had prepared itself for all possible scenarios as diplomatic efforts continued following the latest confrontation with the United States and Israel.
Commenting on the memorandum of understanding due to be signed with Washington in Switzerland on Friday, Pezeshkian said: "The understanding is an important step towards stopping the war and beginning negotiations."
He added that a final agreement had not yet been reached.
Earlier, foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said negotiations aimed at securing a broader agreement would begin after the memorandum is formally signed.
