US Supreme Court allows Trump to end protections for Haitian and Syrian migrants

The US Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to end legal protections for migrants fleeing violence and natural disasters in Haiti and Syria, exposing hundreds of thousands of people to possible deportation.

The decision overturns lower court orders and allows the Department of Homeland Security to move quickly to end temporary protected status for those groups.

Temporary protected status shields 1.3 million people from 17 countries from deportation.
