The number of journalists killed in Gaza has risen to 261 since the start of what Palestinian officials describe as Israel’s war of genocide on the enclave, after the death of journalist Amal Mohammed Al-Shamali was announced. Al-Shamali worked as a correspondent for Qatar Radio. The Government Media Office in Gaza strongly condemned what it described as the systematic targeting, killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces. It called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union and media organisations around the world to condemn what it said were systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip.
