US says it hit Iran after tanker attack in Strait of Hormuz

The US military says it has launched fresh strikes on several targets in Iran after another attack on a ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Central Command said the operation took place on Saturday after Iran attacked a Panama-flagged oil tanker earlier in the day.

"CENTCOM forces launched strikes today in direct response to continued Iranian aggression against commercial shipping," it said in a statement.
