US defence secretary set to visit to Israel on Wednesday: Report

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning to visit Israel on Wednesday, according to CNN citing three sources familiar with the matter.

This would mark Hegseth's first visit to Israel since he began his role as Pentagon chief.

While it is unclear if these plans would be affected by the latest US strikes on Iran, CNN reported that Hegseth is expected to meet  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.

The visit is partly aimed at addressing Israeli concerns regarding Washington's potential sale of F-35 stealth fighter jets to Turkey.
