US military says it facilitated 380 million barrels of oil transiting Hormuz
The US Central Command (Centcom) said “Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz”, denying Iran's “claim” that passage through the waterway is “only permitted through routes designated by Iran” in a post to X on Thursday.
“Since early May, US forces have helped facilitate the successful transit of more than 800 commercial vessels and 380 million barrels of crude oil through the international trade corridor,” Centcom added.
This comes after reports from Lloyd’s List Intelligence that transit by reported traceable vessels through the US-co-ordinated Omani path was “effectively grinding to a halt” in response to the latest escalation between the US and Iran.
