Iran's supreme leader to issue message about slain father's funeral

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is set to issue a message in the coming hours regarding the funeral of his slain father and predecessor Ali Khamenei, state media has reported. 

Ali Khamenei was assassinated on 28 February at the beginning of the US-Israeli war on Iran. 

He was buried in his hometown of Mashhad on Friday following a six-day-long funeral procession.

Iranian media reported that between 41 and 43 million people participated in the ceremony, with Iran’s Press TV calling it “the largest procession the world has ever witnessed”.
