GCC condemns attacks on Emirati tankers in Hormuz
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has condemned attacks on two Emirati oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, with Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi describing the incident as an “explicit violation” of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which calls for the protection of international navigation.
Albudaiwi said the GCC stands firmly with the United Arab Emirates and urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take decisive action to halt further attacks.
He also urged the UN to hold the responsible parties accountable and safeguard maritime shipping routes in the Gulf.
