Israeli physician describes Israeli court hearing over humanitarian corridor as 'fascist'

Michal Feldon, a paediatric rheumatologist at Yitzhak Shamir Medical Centre, described a hearing at the High Court of Justice regarding the opening of the humanitarian corridor following a petition filed by doctors as "another farce of a fascist regime".

In a petition filed by Physicians for Human Rights, the organisation asked for the humanitarian corridor to be opened, to allow the transfer of critically ill patients from Gaza to the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem for treatment.

Feldon highlighted seven moments from the hearing as reflective of "principles of fascism", in a post on Facebook.

Among them are the minister of national security sitting beside the human rights group's lawyers without justification, the judges' refusal to hear the statements of five senior Israeli Jewish doctors, and the court's rejection of the petition.

"In its generosity," Feldon said, "the court recommended that the relevant human rights organisations pressure third countries to accept patients - since the responsibility to save them is private, civilian, and not - God forbid - connected to the state."
