Lebanon president says he insisted on 'full Israeli withdrawal' in Trump talks
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun says he stressed the need for Israel to pull its troops from his country during his meeting on Tuesday with US President Donald Trump.
"President Aoun emphasized the urgent need for a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories, affirming that this constitutes an essential step toward consolidating stability, enabling the Lebanese state to fully extend its sovereignty—through its own forces alone—and moving forward with the implementation of the joint tripartite framework," the presidency said in a statement on X.
This comes after the Lebanese army reported that Israeli troops fired near Lebanese soldiers during the Lebanese army's deployment into one of the "pilot zones" in the country's south, as per the Lebanon-Israel framework agreement.
