US lawmaker: White House run by 'maniacal tyrant' hell-bent on destruction

Democratic lawmaker Yassamin Ansari criticised President Donald Trump’s threat to “obliterate” Iran’s power plants, accusing the White House of being led by “a maniacal tyrant hell-bent on destroying” the country and the rest of the world.

Her remarks came after Trump warned Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or face military action.

“From ‘help is on the way’ for Iranian protestors to threatening war crimes against an entire population,” Ansari said, condemning the administration’s approach.

She described the war as “reckless and illegal” and warned of “catastrophic impacts,” including the potential loss of American lives.
