The National Commission for Palestinian Popular Action has today issued a statement calling for the restoration of democratic and political legitimacy for the management of Palestinian national affairs. The Commission said the Palestinian cause is currently facing its most dangerous phase in decades.Β  The statement read, β€œWhile the Israeli occupation continues its settler-colonial project through its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, alongside ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and settlement expansion in the West Bank and Jerusalem, the Palestinian political system is experiencing an unprecedented crisis of legitimacy. This crisis stems from the suspension of the popular will, the paralysis of national institutions, and the continued management of Palestinian national affairs through authorities that have lost their democratic and political legitimacy.” […]
