Israeli prosecutors have filed an indictment against an Israeli soldier accused of maintaining contact with an individual alleged to be an Iranian intelligence operative, according to a joint statement issued by Israeli authorities. The statement, released by the Israel Police, the Ministry of Defence, and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), said the accused served in both the regular and reserve forces of a classified military unit. According to the statement, the State Attorney’s Office filed the indictment in the Tel Aviv District Court on 16th July, charging the soldier with contacting a foreign agent and attempting to provide information to the enemy.
