UK calls emergency meeting as war drives economic fallout
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called an emergency meeting to address the economic fallout from the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Senior officials, including finance minister Rachel Reeves, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, and key cabinet ministers, are set to attend.
βTopics expected to be covered are the economic impact of the crisis on families and businesses, energy security and the resilience of industry and supply chains alongside the international response,β the finance ministry said.
The United Kingdom, heavily reliant on imported natural gas, is bracing for further increases in energy prices as the conflict shows no signs of easing.
