The Governor of Sudan’s Darfur region, Minni Arko Minnawi, said on Tuesday that the Sudanese army and allied forces had defeated the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Hajar al-Marfaein and Bir Saliba areas of North Darfur State. In a post on Facebook, Minnawi said the battle in Hajar al-Marfaein and Bir Saliba was “a heroic epic” in which government forces proved that determination could overcome aggression after fierce fighting that ended in a battlefield victory. He added that forces on the ground had reported the killing of Major General Mahdi Adam, also known as Jabal Moon, the RSF’s Western Axis commander.
