France requests emergency Security Council meeting over Lebanon

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said Paris has requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council over the "escalating violence" in Lebanon.

“Faced with the sudden deterioration of the situation, France has requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council,” Barrot wrote on X.

Barrot said that France has allocated $6.9m in emergency assistance to humanitarian organisations already operating on the ground in Lebanon.
