The spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters called on Arab and Muslim states to forge a “security union” independent of the United States and Israel. “What have the US military bases brought to the region?” Ebrahim Zolfaghari asked in a rhetorical question directed at the US and Israeli allies in the region. “If you were to be attacked by the Zionist entity’s army, would the Americans fire one bullet in your defence?”  He called for founding a collective security charter “based on Islam and the Quran” as its frame of reference.
