Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has accused Israel of killing four Iranian diplomats in an airstrike that targeted a hotel in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the presidents of the Security Council and General Assembly, Iran’s UN envoy Amir Saeed Irvani said the attack took place in the early hours of Sunday, 8 March 2026. According to the letter, cited by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Israeli forces struck the Ramada Hotel in central Beirut, resulting in the deaths of four Iranian diplomats. “The Israeli regime carried out a deliberate terrorist attack on the Ramada Hotel in Beirut, resulting in the death of four Iranian diplomats,” Irvani wrote.
