Dubai says tanker crew safe, firefighting continues
Authorities said all crew members aboard a Kuwaiti oil tanker in Dubai’s waters are safe as firefighting efforts continue following an incident on board.
The Dubai Media Office said that “the safety of all 24 crew members has been secured” and that “firefighting operations” are ongoing.
Kuwaiti officials earlier said the tanker was targeted in an attack while docked at Dubai port, causing damage and a fire, with concerns over a possible oil spill.
The vessel was fully loaded at the time, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said, and authorities are continuing to assess the situation.
