American journalist kidnapped in Baghdad, suspect detained, US says

The US State Department said it is aware of reports that a US journalist has been kidnapped in Baghdad.

Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs Dylan Johnson said the department had previously warned the individual of threats and is working with the FBI to secure their release.

He added that Iraqi authorities have detained a suspect believed to have links to Kataib Hezbollah in connection with the incident.
