The United States has begun an emergency evacuation of around 60,000 American citizens from Egypt, according to a report by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth. In a report published on Tuesday, the paper said that about 60,000 US nationals are currently in Egypt and have been advised to leave immediately. It added that Washington has arranged special charter flights for those wishing to depart. According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Americans were urged to “leave immediately”, although it did not specify how many have responded to the call.
