Israel’s deepening manpower crisis appears to be pushing the occupation army to drag even traumatised reservists back into service. According to a report in the Haaretz, some Israeli soldiers suffering from severe mental trauma were threatened with penalties, including arrest, if they failed to report for duty. The report points to an army under mounting pressure as Israel wages war on multiple fronts while struggling to sustain its reserve forces. Commanders demanded that reservists receiving treatment for war-related trauma report for duty, even when some had been admitted to the Israeli Defence Ministry’s Rehabilitation Department and were undergoing psychiatric care.
