Lebanon prime minister: ‘No end in sight’ to Israeli attacks

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said that there is no end in sight to the war, which has already led to the displacement of a million people, as Israel’s latest bombardment of the country enters its second month.

“Lebanon has become a victim of war – one whose outcomes and end date no one can predict,” Salam declared on Thursday, Reuters reports.

He condemned Israel's “significant expansion in the occupation of Lebanese territories”, calling the talk about creating a Greater Israel that extends into Lebanon to create a buffer zone for security “dangerous”.

Israel launched attacks on Thursday on the towns of Sultaniyeh, Aita al Jabal, al-Jumayjimah and Tibnin in southern Lebanon, Al Jazeera’s correspondents on the ground report.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has said that the more than 600,000 people who live in the southern territories up to the Litani River will not be able to come back.
