Iran says 30 universities hit in US-Israeli strikes
At least 30 universities in Iran have been affected by US-Israeli attacks since the start of the war on 28 February, the country’s science minister Hossein Simaei Saraf said.
Speaking at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, where a laser and plasma research centre was damaged in an airstrike, Saraf said academic institutions have been repeatedly targeted.
“Attacking universities and research centres means returning to the Stone Age,” he said, referencing earlier threats to strike Iran’s infrastructure.
Saraf added that Iranian scientists have long been targeted and said several professors from Shahid Beheshti University were killed during the conflict.
