Iran issues map to help ships avoid mines in Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a map outlining revised routes through the Strait of Hormuz to help vessels steer clear of naval mines, local media said.

The IRGC navy advised ships to coordinate with it to pass safely with the zone marked on the map, described as an “area of danger”.

Tankers that once travelled near Oman on the southern side of the Strait are now being advised to use a more northerly passage, closer to Iran’s coastline.
