Iran foreign minister: Lebanon must be included in ceasefire deal

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated that Lebanon must be included in the US-Iran two-week truce for Washington to live up to its ceasefire commitments.

The comments were made in a phone call to Iranโ€™s envoy to Lebanon, Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani, according to a statement posted to Telegram on Friday.

Araghchi condemned Israelโ€™s ongoing strikes on Lebanon and stressed that any ceasefire agreement must bring an end to these attacks.

This comes after Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf commented that Iran will not engage in peace negotiations with the US until Israeli strikes on Lebanon are halted and the country's "blocked assets" are released.
