Iran says talks with US will begin once ‘preconditions are accepted’
Iranian officials have landed in Islamabad ahead of peace talks with the US, according to Iranian state media.
The delegation will be led by parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and includes senior political, military and economic officials, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
State media reports that Iran will begin ceasefire negotiations if their “preconditions are accepted”.
This comes after Araghchi reiterated the necessity for Lebanon to be included in any agreement with the US, and Ghalibaf commented that Iran will not engage in peace negotiations with the US until Israeli strikes on Lebanon are halted and the country's "blocked assets" are released.
