Top US officials land in Pakistan for talks with Iran
US Vice President JD Vance and senior envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Islamabad for talks with Iran, Reuters reported, citing Pakistani sources.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the negotiations as βmake or breakβ as efforts intensify during a temporary ceasefire.
Pakistan provided heavy security for the Iranian delegation, with AWACS aircraft, electronic warfare planes and fighter jets escorting the team into its airspace.
The delegation, led by Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, was received by senior officials, including the defence chief, foreign minister and interior minister.
Parts of Islamabad, including the central Blue Area, were shut down amid heightened security.
